Fall in New England has a certain mood for me. In spite of the beauty of the colors, Fall is a preview of the winter darkness to come. This Black Bird represents that mood for me. The bare branch empty of its leaves, the blue-black color of the birds wings as he looks back at a season passed, and the stark white background all speak to me of the cold winter to come.
